I guess I'll be the odd man out and say.. I kinda see his point.. Alot of the older rockers like Plant Page.. Lemmy John Paul Jones have publicly made comments about "today's" music only because they are right.
Just recently, Gene's manager was trying to get Gene to help back this new band out of Nashville and he pretty much gave them that speech about the stage is holy ground.
But these guys were not even trying to play music together.. Just going through the motions.. So he had to kick em in the ego and get their heads into what exactly being a band and making music is all about.
Gene shines in his attitude about how much the fans are important!
That's a good thing to me.. Something that has happened to the music industry is it's more about the money than the music..
So Gene.. your the man to this guy.. You go ahead and say what you want.. The guy is getting it from all sides lately.. His kids and wife are saying your too old to be a rock star any more..
That's sad.. So it's against the rules to go to your grave a rock star???:wtf:

Gene seems he is more about the money than the music. He is one to talk huh?

You can say that all day.. It's not the truth even though all you hear coming out of him is business talk.. but take into account his growing up story.. He wants the good life for his family.. That requires money.. I still think he's humble at times and thinks more about putting on one of the best rock shows out there.. Nothing wrong with that at all..

I will say, as far as the $$$ goes with him??

This was inspired by Beatles merchandising...he was and is a huge Beatles fan for the music and merch. ANY and I mean ANY band wishes they could have the franchise that he was able to build with his group.

Not trying to make him out a saint, but every band and artist does merchandising. Gene was able to simply take it 10 steps beyond most others' expectations.

Yup!! And Gene isn't a Hoarder.. He funnels his money back into things.. A wise man is a man who makes good investments.. Gene lives in a modest house and drives a modest car.. He's not all flashing with expensive houses and cars..
What he does with marketing KISS is pure genius.. Maybe overkill to some, but that guy is a success story in my book..

Agreed...I can never think of a band besides Beatles that come close. The Grateful Dead maybe.
