Re: The Clash

^^Yes I have Combat Rock Riff, while not on par with LC or Sandinista I still enjoy spinning the CD once in a while.

Re: The Clash

Don't know if it's true or not but it was said that photographer Pennie Smith didn't want to use the photo of Paul smashing his bass because it was too out of focus, but Joe Strummer said it would make a good album cover, in recent years it has been said to be one of the best rock photos of all time.

I actually used that pic as an av, coloured it and reduced it ... looked good too.
I saw the Clash in Cardiff during the early years, along with the Buzzcocks and the Slits. A wild experience, worrying really, me and my mate, in the crowd of punks and skins, with our long hair in ponytails ... :oyea: They had a run in with the bikers there if I remember rightly. Happy days.

Sounds like an awesome time.. I wasn't there, but I don't believe they were known for being a tame band:D:heheh:

Re: The Clash

The Clash is one of my favorite bands out there. They were the band that actually got me, my brother, and some of my friends into the punk genre. Right here is the first punk album I ever purchased (I think I was about 10 or 11):

And my love for punk went on ever since.

The fact that they're so diverse is amazing in itself.

I'll expand on that and say, one of my favorite bands of all time.. Much more to them than punk rock, in the stereotypical sense:D
