I don't even think Lemmy cares what Lemmy thinks either, and as a human being, he is able to change his mind over time one way or the other. Yes he has done Pop with a bit of hip hop flavour and rapped a tiny bit with Keli Raven...and there really is no reason to debate that either.

...and again where you are right DKW is in your opinion. Anyone that has an opinion cannot be wrong because it is their opinion. Even as a metal fan myself, no one is gonna sell me that metal is one of the only forms of music that deals with history, darker issues, life being not so rosey.

Some people get these feelings out with the back up of the music of their choice...some like it better with metal, others like it better with pop. The music also comes from many people's general enviroment as well.

But anyones opinion only validates that opinion for one person. Again DKW has had a different/ his own experience. Mine? Much different.

Metal music is one of the only forms of rock music that takes more chances than others. It can be brutal sure...but metal was always able to move around...adding ballads, pop elements, funk, jazz, prog, classical, world music, space rock, and rap at times...just about anything you can imagine really.

Alot of other forms of rock music ,(not all) are what they are, and that's pretty much it. I've always felt GREAT to be apart of a rock and roll community, like metal for over 30 years that always showed each other alot of love and diversity.

I think some good points were made...it's not Lemmy's opinion that upsets anyone, but it's validating others opinions. I believe DKW has the right to like or not like whatever he wishes (although I know you listen to alot more than just metal) but we can't claim his opinion to be some sort of law.

As far as Motorhead and metal go?? There are definite elements and songs that always seemed metal to me...though Lemmy has been pretty adamant that Motorhead is not metal...whether we agree or not.

This is documented in many interviews and videos.

Please no one freak out and say that this doesn't mean anything...I'm just goin' with the flow of the conversation.

Who is claiming that DKW's opinions are some sort of law MP? I haven't read that in any posts in this thread.

If Lemmy says Motorhead isn't metal, I guess it isn't metal to him. From what I hear I'd say it's heavy metal from my understanding of the definition of heavy metal.

I stand by one belief that we're all right here and should respect each other's opinions in the long run.

After all we're all friends here.

PEACE!

@Joe - Go back to the beginning. I have been defending the fact that Wolf has been inferring that there are true metalheads, and people who like other stuff that he doesn't like and metal aren't really "true" fans. This is a an easy way of thinking that humans get wrapped in, which I won't get into here because it leads to inappropriate discussions for this forum.

Anyways, Lemmy's opinions were used as a go-ahead to start trashing certain genres of music, that many on this forum like and will come here to defend them, just as you have the right to trash them. There are plenty of quotes from this thread that you can read that show that. I was hoping to see some kind of backing behind their viewpoints, instead of "Lemmy speaks the truth! See?" Like what he likes is some sort of truth. What if Lemmy actually liked the Beibs? What would you do then? Call him a traitor? Or would you make up some imaginary excuse as to why he may have said that. It's all ridiculous.

Getting back to Lemmy's opinions.......I agree with him about pop and rap and to the popsters I say: "People in glass houses should not throw stones":):):)

Snakes & Ladders, no one has criticized you here on CRF for your opinions on Radiohead or Porcupine Tree. You have never posted in the Radiohead thread, and you did say you thought Porcupine Tree were overrated in that thread, and not one single person questioned your opinion.

I don't see this thread as "bashing Lemmy" for his opinions, but more a heated discussion where CRF members are hashing out their own personal opinions in reaction to what Lemmy has said.

Debate is healthy, S & L, as long as it doesn't resort to personal insults.

S&L: I'm a huge Porcupine Tree fan and think they are one of the best artists from the last 20 years. I've seen your statements in regards to the band and it doesn't bother me in the least and haven't reponded to your criticisms at all unless it was directed at me on a personal level, which it wasn't.

Magic is right. I haven't seen anyone question your opinion on PT.
