Some of the worst styles of music for me:

Country: Country is just plain retarded. Not only are the lyrics all the same (it's a bout real life y'all), like lady said earlier (myyyy blue pickup truck is rusty and won't staaaaart and my dog ran away and my wife left meeeeee), but the music is all the same too! Same chord progressions, same tempos, all more of the same. *yawn*

Overproduced pop garbage: Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, etc etc all a bunch of crap. I have to painfully sit through a song when I want to judge it fully, otherwise I have to stop it after 10 seconds and then put on The Beatles to be happy again.

Shummy shum shum rocker wannabes:
I can't stand the whole pop, rocker-wannabe sound of the shum shummers. Here is an example of this utter GARBAGE

Fallout Boy, Rise Against, 30 Seconds to Mars, Three Days Grace, etc are all in this "genre"... SHUUUUUUUM SHUM SHUUUUUUUM! I'm soooo emotional YEEEAH!

I do have to agree with some previous posters; techno can be good or bad. There are some really good techno albums out there (some mixed by DJs and others written), but the majority is really poor and not so good, but there are some good artists to listen to. (Aphex Twin (is this really techno? or shall I say electronic! hehe), Hive, Enigma, Delirium, Kruder and Dorfmeister, BT, to name a few)

I used to hate 90s boy bands, until I heard stuff like Bieber and the Jonas Brothers. That stuff makes Backstreet Boys music sound really intellectual. :D

I'm not sure if this is a genre but the shitty, two chord "rock bands" Like Shinedown, Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Stone Sour. How do these bands sell with such lack of creativity? It sounds like what watching paint dry would sound like if you could hear it.:pullhair:

Country is pretty bad too. I do like Patsy Cline though.

The only rap I go near is NWA because it's absolutely hilarious and i don't mind the Beastie Boys now and again.

The worst though is white reggae bands like Sublime and 311.
Vom city! :puke:

I agree that those bands aren't really extremely outside the box but both the vocalist in Shinedown and Stone Sour are awesome. Sometimes something solid can make for good tunes. Shinedown at least has a Southern Rock feel that seperates them from that pack and Stone Sour at least has a variance from song to song where they mix something really heavy and then go out and put out an awesome ballad. Nickelback and Three Days Grace truly sound like the same song over and over and over.......

I always though music was about emotion but this seems to be the generation that scoffs at it. I'm specifically thinking about 30 Seconds to Mars who to me make some amazingly, beautiful spacy atmospheric songs that truly.... well you know, feel something. :hm: I think it's just not cool now to like a band that has a singer who young girls are attracted to. Most people probably judge it by Jared Leto but **** it I say he's a great vocalist and actor and good for him for being a sex symbol on top of that! :cheers2

Now ignoring the teenybopper comments after it and the Jared Leto worship what would be your actual criticism of this particular song! Is this a lame type of emotion? If it is I know we'll be polar opposites pretty much forever because this type of emotion is what I follow! I give you one thing though, you could say the lyrics are simplistic in this particular song but it doesn't sway me at all! This is beautiful on so many levels to me! :grinthumb It's not the only one I'd use as they are an album band for me but I figure one song either makes it or breaks it. If you still have your mind made up than their would be no progression in this type of debate anyway so I would peacefully bow out and just consider it a difference in preference! :grinthumb

Rise Against is a melodic hardcore punk bamd. Also who cares if a band writes about emotion? Every single band writes about emotion (either anger, love, depression.)

Well considering this is a Classic Rock Forum our demographic is going to 99% say rap/hip-hop hands down. Since I'm the 1% who likes that genre I've got a question! Can we consider Celine Dion a genre? :oyea:

make that 2%. I love rap/hip hop. Although I am really picky with my hip hop. I really like the roots, mos def, nas, KRS-One, and Lupe Fiasco.
