Interesting views in this thread.

I still think that all music can be forms of art and have an audience that enjoys it.

for me though, the only thing that makes me cringe is growling vocals. That totally ruins whatever music is behind it......I dont care how good the band is, add screams, barks, squeals, and growls that cant be understood and the music becomes trash.

Jajaja. Everybody hates good ol' Kanye West except a few of us. I also hate Hip-Hop/Rap music. But there are some artists/songs/albums that are too good to ignore. KAnye West is one of those men. You may not like him as a person. You may not like the kind of music he does. But you can't say that he is not probably the most important musician nowadays. In an era where rock music is not very "innovational" and they keep using the formulas that gave other bands glory in the past, and where the most popular music is that recyclable pop (Bieber, Jonas, Lady Gaga), Kanye West has managed to do some interesting things, with some very creative lyrics and stuff.

Sometimes it's hard for us to listen or start liking the music of a person we find is an idiot. But it proves how big we can be. For example: I hate Bono, I hate the Gallaghers (Oasis) and, ****, I even hated The Beatles. But sometimes music is more important and now i love some U2 albums, some OAsis albums and I love the Beatles as a whole, they are like Gods to me now. That's why for me it's important to leave all prejudice behind in order to appreciate some new music, that because you're biased, you may never get to listen and love.

Also, sometimes you like a band because of what they try to express (the meaning of their songs). Sometimes it's because how they express that (being musically or lyrically). And other times it's because of what they represent. In Kanye's case, I like him because of all the things I just mentioned, and because all the things he can do. He can keep amazing us with all his creativity.

Some of you will never like him, but that's ok. Most of you will probably hate him. But that's the genius of Kanye's life. Everyone thinks he's a douchebag. But he keeps selling records and being one of the top artists today, and in a good way, not a Justin Bieber way. Because Kanye represents innovation and creativity.

@Syd there are many talented artists making good music today, especially in Europe where I have found so many bands that have fired up my passion for rock music again.

I don't like Kanye West and never will, and I don't like his music either. But I haven't slagged him in Sooty's thread out of respect, that is not my style. His move from rap/hip-hop to pop is calculated by what the market is like, and more than one rapper has said their genre is getting stale and old so it doesn't surprise me Kanye is exploring new horizons, which I do give him credit for. I have nothing against any musician doing whatever they have to to stay relevant and sell albums.

I can respect the Hell out of both these well thought out stances! :cheers2

RAP is sht! It's the worst. I'd like to kick the teeth in, of all the ridiculous looking, baggy pants, sideways baseball cap wearing, white suburban ass hole fools that think they're ghetto. I don't know whether to laugh or puke when I see them...Nice ****ing generation we have in the 21'st century! The future looks brighter than a supernova. How in the **** can someone want to emulate that piss?

And RAP, IS NOT ROCK.

No, it's mindless repetitive 5 note crap no matter the hour :heheh:

But Electronica as a whole has some interesting things in it as a whole. There are Electronica bands that put a lot of time and effort into what they do.
