^^Tell that to the record companies Sooty, and get them to 1) Pay the recording artist more than 15% of the revenue for a sale of a CD...2) Give the artist ownership over their own creation, at least after their contract has expired.

Until the record labels get it together and move forward then nothing is going to change.

As for the i-pod generation, I hate what they have done to music, I have never bought a single song in my life and have no intention of doing so now. Plus i-tunes sound quality is not good enough for me, and they knew that when they released their first batch of music for downloading...:mad

I use my ipods 6 or more hours per day. I need portable music for work and play. I never paid for a song from itunes. Limewire did have something similar to emusic, but the selection was poor. Emusic is adding half a million songs late this month. I never had a quality issue. That's the only pay site I use now. Amazon wasn't very good.

I hunt for concert recordings, and there are plenty of legal shows available.
I don't care for the crap that passes or music these days.

...finish this later...

One way to look at it is:
The big brand label companies dont want people stealing their "hard(ly)" earned cash!! D:

Music is an art form, you wouldnt put copyright on a dance would you?

unfrotunatley it should be about the artist. Countless bands/artists have gold and plantinum records and still can be brooke because of greedy record companies/managers/agents/publicists. etc.

The way I look at it- who really needs the money more, me, living in a tiny dorm on Ramen Noodles and Easy Mac, or Gene Simmons, with his several multi-million dollar houses and cars, and his "4000 women"?

No one will ever convince me of the merits of the i-tunes revolution or the quality of the lossy codec Apple has come up with.

I want the Best sound I can get, and they do not measure up for me. As for i-pods, they are portable and can hold a lot of songs, that is their only good point. I hate proprietary companies like Apple with a passion.

I will say it again, stop releasing music in digital format, take USB turntables off the market, shut down every downloading site legal or otherwise and release vinyl only just like I grew up with.

That will sort out the music industry to the satisfaction of the record labels and the artists, in a few years.

Otherwise things are going to continue to change for the foreseeable future until a sustainable equitable new business model evolves out of all this digital/internet/downloading controversy.

Problem: I cant take my Vinyl album on a jog or on a plane with me for listening pleasure.

We survived for Decades without i-pods, I am sure you all would do the same as us.

I still have my old Sony Walkman, not as convenient perhaps but it does give you music to take with you.

I hate seeing all the technical advancements made in my lifetime thrown out just for convenience by a company I hate as much as Apple, while they try to convince you they are good for music.

i-tunes/i-pods = crappy music(Lossy codecs not the bands themselves) you can take with you wherever you go and that is all.

Besides in about 5-10 years from now for the first in a series of class action lawsuits will be brought against Apple and other companies when the kids of the 2,000's all start suffering hearing loss from playing their Pods too loud, for too long causing permanent damage to their hearing. I suffer with mine, it's from 20+ years of operating loud machinery, an entire generation is going to be deaf or hearing impaired by the time they are in their 30's, and that is sad.

You said released as only vinyl. I don't think walkmans accept vinyl formatting.
