Re: The Zombies...Odyssey & Oracle album

I love the Zombies, we saw them in July at a small club and they were great ... They closed the show with Summertime.

I'll follow up this post with more information a.s.a.p.

Their swansong was one of rock's greatest creations.

There's more to the Zombies than just "Odessey and Oracle". This early LP should not be overlooked by Zombies fans:

The Zombies

The album "Odessey And Oracle" is often regarded as a classic, and to be honest the first time I heard it I was really impressed. But their singer really annoys me for some reason. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on their singer and I was wondering if anyone else was annoyed by him?

Re: The Zombies

I like that album, but I admit it's the only Zombies recording I own. I think it has one of the best album covers to represent what the 60's was all about.;)

Re: The Zombies On Tour

For someone who claims to be a fan of Rod Argent & Colin, you sure sound bitter.

How dare they grow old, & maybe their voices grow rougher, & thus ruin your impression of an album they cut more than 37 years ago!

I saw "The Zombies" at HippieFest 2007 and in July of 2009 .... Colin Blunstone is more relaxed than I've ever seen him and his voice is smoother if anything ...

Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone .. play to the crowd with smiles on their faces.

Btw ~ Rod Argent looks 45 and not 60 ish.

Re: The Zombies On Tour

With that being said I strongly recommend not going to see this updated version of the Zombies.... I'm on another forum where other members have seen them live and have unamiously panned them.

Well you can either listen to them or you can listen to me. I've seen the Zombies twice in the last two years and I really enjoyed both concerts. They performed and nailed all their hits.

Colin Blunstone's singing was smooth as silk and he positively exuded joy at being up on stage in front of fans who wanted to see them perform while Rod Argent played with all out intensity. The two were splendid counterpoints to each other. Their bass player, Jim Rodford, was Rod Argent's cousin and had worked with the Zombies when they were first starting out as a band. Jim's son Steve was on bass. They were about as legitimate as you can get for a band from the sixties.
