The album "Odessey And Oracle" is often regarded as a classic, and to be honest the first time I heard it I was really impressed. But their singer really annoys me for some reason. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on their singer and I was wondering if anyone else was annoyed by him?

I've got it, and listened to it a few times, but it's not really the sort of album one would listen to over, over and over again within a short space of time - so to me it's just like Pink Floyds Atom Heart Mother - both interesting to listen to, but play it til death and one would grow tired of it very quickly. I tend to play The Best Of The Zombies CD more even though the songs on it are far more straightfoward than the songs on Odessey and Oracle, they give me that sense of catchy feeling which tends to make me play them more cause you can sing to it more even moreso! :D

I only have the Remastered Odyssey & Oracle with bonus tracks, but that looks like a nice compilation Hep.

Re: The Zombies

Do the mixes sound a cut above in stereo when played on a good sound system?

I have yet to play in on a good sound system and as of right now I have no sound system.

Re: The Zombies

I know it's totally cliche to say, but I love "Time of the Season". The bassline is great, and the overall beat is fantastic. Plus I like the background vocals, particularly the the deeper one (the guy who says "is he rich" just before the lead singer sings it).
I'll have to look more into their works, I'm only familiar with a handful of other songs

43. She Does Everything for Me

The Zombies were so good that it's hard to single out one song or another. Seriously though, this song has to be one of the greatest things ever waxed.

x2. I've been a huge Zombies fan since I discovered the Time of the Zombies import compilation back in the 80's. Is This The Dream is a personal favorite. What a burner! I also have the earlier Odessey & Oracle reissue on CD and the Zombie Heaven box (worth every penny I might add).

Sonically, they all sound good to me. There may be a few subtle differences here and there if you look for them. No question that O&O is an exceptional album and it's always had that slightly more mature (or could it be definitive) Zombies sound. Recording it at Abbey Road may play a small part in that. It's a great Zombies album but I feel it can also be taken on it's own merits.
