and, will CRF put in a new subforum for it when it hits?(kidding)

but what do you think will be the fad?

this past decade it was absolutely horrible, the metal, the "crunk" rap, and I don't know what to call these people but, Lady Gaga, Britney Revived, and all them

so, will this new decade be better, worse, what?

I persoanlly am too scared to want to find out, and I find the more I learn, the smaller the rock I live under gets(for good reason)

so, your opinions?

EDIT: I found this very fitting when I got home tonight, my mom had the new on and I walked in at a perfect time, they were discussing how the use of autotune in ruining music

I don't think this decade has been a complete write-off, some horrible bands/artists that is normal for every era.

I am hoping that hip-hop/rap dies off completely, that Black/Death metal goes back to it's underground base and stays there, and screamo bands go extinct.

What will be popular?...I have no idea we will never experience another period like the late 60's early 70's which was the most amazing period of creativity in rock music to me anyway.

I think this decade has been a complete write off, with the exception of a few years in the beginning
there was a few bands that were still around and doing stuff around like 02, 03, but after that they all seemed to die off, punk rock is dead, no metal has any passion, and rock n roll is non existent

also, even look at the pop of the early to mid 70s after that we needed , excluding disco, and even some of the 80s, well, early 80s, by the mid 80s I think there was a serious lack of inspiration, the musicians themselves were great but there wasn't anything to inspire them, and then even the 90s, with hip hop and all there was a lot of inspiration and even the grunge thing, I think it was sort of a punk for the decade like the late 70s, plus you had so many new genres created, now the only thing created this past decade has been 950 sub genres of metal and rap but nothing else
and god did country music die... they killed it, country music was killed by a fourteen year old girl... wow...

You sure paint a bleak picture Eberg...I have found numerous good bands the last few years, but most of them are from Europe, and I sort of stumbled across many by sheer luck. There will always be good music, and it is easier than ever to sample what people all over the world are playing, so I remain somewhat optimistic about the future.

ok, I think I'm talking more about bands in the mainstream sort of, well mainstream to someone, not just some folks in a garage that have a local following or that play the local bar, I can find tons of great bands like that, but I'm talking ones that have a major record label and a decent following and well, in America too, I honestly haven't found one major labeled band that is totally original or doing something new, I like some of it, but its been done before and the second time is just lame, The Racentours have a song called "Old Enough" that got air time on the radio and it was a good song, but if you could say this is what a generic sixties rock song sounds like... it would describe that song along with most of the album perfectly, I listened to Wolfmother's new album and it sounded like a cover band, and now this new 60s fad that seems to be taking off.... these bands are coming out as psychadelic bands, but they are suckier than the original bands they are ripping off of, I want to be able to open up itunes (now that record and cd stores are extinct) and find something I like that wasn't released before 1984

I agree with this but on the other hand for me I think every decade will have a difference in opinion on what was good and what was crap for that decade! That's the beauty of it! Variety! It's funny because I really like the Lady Gagas, the screamo bands (not all but some) and some rap has used autotune effectively in my opinion but if something came around that was the total opposite of that then I'd probably find something in that genre to embrace as well! I'm excited about new music on a day to day basis so decades really just blend together for me!

I don't know about Lady Gaga, but I just assumed Britney was Pop on LSD - and dubbed "New Dimensions in Music"! :bonk:

Newsflash Britney - 60s Music exploited it to Death!

I think Britney sounded better since she realized that she was essentially just a robot and they built the music around her to reflect that. It wasn't until the Blackout album that I actually found the Britney product to be enjoyable! :grinthumb

Oh okay, the gosipers here tend to make us believe Britney is on shakey group - if you know what I mean ;)
