Venom just released an album Fallen Angels. Not bad but not awesome either.
I did enjoy Hail Satanas.

Fallen Angel does have some good songs, but also does have some really bad songs (Punk's Not Dead for example). In overall not a bad effort, but I'll stick first first three albums and Resurrection.

I will praise the raw, gritty nature of the music, this is something I have always expected from Venom.

I will say I wasn't overly impressed with this album the first time but now I love the album front to back.

Maleficarum is a killer song from Metal Black!

Has that Sabbath Bloody Sabbath groove big time, and I love the guitar harmonies near the end!!

Awesome Rejection Letter from EMI

Chuckle of the day:

This Venom rejection letter from EMI is the best

According to journalist and record label owner Bart Gabriel, when Venom submitted their demo to EMI in 1980 (the year after Iron Maiden was signed to the same label), they were met with the following response from the label. Of course, getting rejected from EMI seems to have not affected the band that much. The three songs on the demo wound up being part of their first album, Welcome to Hell, and they went on to, at least lyrically, help spawn the black metal scene with the 1982 release of Black Metal. Also of note is the fact that EMI’s stationary once read “The Greatest Music Company in the World.” That’s about as cocky and awesome as their response to Venom.
