Dave Edmunds critically unwell

01/08/25 Its being reported that Dave suffered a 'cardiac arrest' recently that has left him with brain damage. Dave who is 81 was part of a Welsh three piece rock trio called Love Sculpture back in the late 1960s and scored a massive hit in the UK with a song called Sabre Dance that may well have been the first 'speed metal' instrumental song ever recorded when the band played the number at 1.000 MILES AN HOUR!!. After Love Sculpture Dave had another massive UK hit single in 1972 called I Hear You Knocking as part of the Rock Pile band after which Dave brought in Nick Lowe on bass from Brinsley Schwarz, Terry Williams on drums from Welsh progressive rock band Man and Billy Bremner on 2nd guitar playing 50s style rock & roll in the 1970s 'revival style' as well as newer songs for the rest of the 1970s. Dave as well as playing guitar was also a record producer and is associated with Rockfield studios in Wales where amongst others Motorhead cut their first album in 1975 although it wasn't released until 1979 by EMI called On Parole and jumping on the popularity of Motorhead after they released Overkill & Bomber.

Heard his late 70's-80's pop rock hits on the radio of course but the only thing I currently own is Forms and Feelings (original vinyl found in an old record shop 10 years ago) by Love Sculpture from 69/70....interesting psych /blues rock with Sabre Dance on it and this gem......reminds me of The Move.
