Top 10 Metal Albums?

^^^ I had about 5 shots at this LG there are just too many great albums, I guess a couple of my choices are debateable as to being really heavy metal but I think they helped create the early sound and nudged others in that direction.

3. Master of Puppets--Metallica
4. Sabotage--Black Sabbath
5. Diary of A Madman--Ozzy Osbourne
7. Heaven and Hell--Black Sabbath
8. Rust In Peace--Megadeth
9. Reign in Blood--Slayer
10. As The Places Burn--Lamb of God

Take away numbers 1/9/10 & I absolutely agree with you on it & love that list. I used to like number 10, but that was only for a short period of (wasted) time personally. No offense to you though.

8. Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales Of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside The Spookshow International

Well, I guess its something like that.

Check out White Zombie's catalog if any of Rob's albums are amongst your favorite Metal discs. White Zombie was truly Metal & their Drummer was/is amongst the Metal greats.

My list has changed a bit. Got rid of Death and put Cannibal Corpse, booted Sabbath and put Saxon in there. Was tempted to add Rob Zombie myself also because he did some great solo metal albums but he would be on my top 20. Might edit it more to add some black metal in there too.

every time I put together a list like this, I have a very hard time doing it. Not because I can't find 10 albums, but rather because it's SO hard to trim it down to ONLY 10 albums.


But I'll give it a go, in no particular order. This just happens to be what comes to mind today, ask me next week and a couple could change.

Black Sabbath - Paranoid (IMHO, the single most important metal album of all time)
Dio - Holy Diver
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Metallica - ... And Justice For All
Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Guns 'n' Roses - Appetite for Destruction



Would be easy to put in some other great albums (ie: Back in Black, Machine Head, Van Halen I, etc) but I consider all of those to be more "hard rock" than "metal", so I tried to stay on that theme, even though GnR might be pushing the boundry of 'metal' by that same definition.
