2006 The surviving members of Led Zeppelin met at a secret rehearsal space in England to run through songs for the forthcoming 02 Arena benefit tribute to Atlantic Records co-founder, the late Ahmet Ertegun. It was the first time the three members had been in the same room with instruments since their four-song set at Led Zeppelin's 1995 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

2007 The Rolling Stones played their first UK festival in over 30 years when they appeared at the Isle of Wight Festival. The Stones arrived at the Isle of Wight on their own privately chartered ferry for their 200-strong entourage including five Winnebago trailers and private security team. The Stones last UK festival appearance was Knebworth Fair in 1976.

2004, US singer, songwriter Ray Charles died aged 73. Glaucoma rendered Charles blind at the age of six. He scored the 1962 UK & US No.1 single ‘I Can’t Stop Loving You’ plus over 30 other US Top 40 singles and the 2005 US No.1 album ‘Genius Loves Company.’ Charles who was married twice and fathered twelve children by nine different women appeared in the 1980 hit movie, The Blues Brothers was also the winner of 17 Grammy Awards.

1971 A Jethro Tull concert in Denver is disrupted by police who fire tear gas to quiet the 10,000 plus crowd. The band plays on, even though keyboardist John Evans can't see his piano through the gas.

1978 Joe Walsh's comic depiction of Rock stardom, "Life's Been Good", is released. It would become his highest charting solo single, reaching #12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

1986 More than 10,000 fans helped The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band celebrate their 20th anniversary at a concert in Denver.

1910 Chicago blues singer Howlin' Wolf is born Chester Arthur Burnett in White Station, Mississippi.

1944 Rick Price (bassist for The Move, Wizzard) is born in Birmingham, England.

1964 Jimmy Chamberlin (drummer for The Smashing Pumpkins) is born in Joliet, Illinois.

1966 Janis Joplin makes her singing debut with Big Brother & the Holding Company at San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom

1967 Outdoor rock: California's Magic Mountain Music Festival, considered the first rock music festival, features Jefferson Airplane, The Doors and The Byrds - the crowd of 15,000 will be dwarfed by the 200,000 at the Monterey Pop Festival the following weekend.

1975 The Eagles release One Of These Nights.

2007 In the last scene of the HBO series The Sopranos, "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey plays on the jukebox while Tony Soprano sits at a diner. It cuts to black on the line, "Don't Stop."

2010 Appearing at Milan's PalaSharp Arena to promote his self-titled solo record, Slash, in the midst of performing the Guns N' Roses classic "Sweet Child o' Mine," is tackled by a concertgoer. The guitarist bravely keeps on rocking, eventually switching guitars and finishing the song. Afterward, Slash described the night as "a kick-ass rock show."

2015 - In Gothenburg, Sweden, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) fell off the stage and broke his leg. He had his leg set backstage and returned to perform more songs.
