Rocker is expecting me to strain my brain.......but here are a few I can remember hearing for the first time thanks to my elder brothers:

Iron Butterfly ~ Inna Godda Da Vida

Steppenwolf ~ Born to Be Wild

The 5th Dimension ~ Up, Up and Away

Booker T & The MG's ~ Green Onions

No, not at all! :oyea: I actually have been doing a lot of racking of the old noggin with regard to trying to remember many first songs that I've heard, and also when, where I heard them for the first time! Some of the occasions, times and places haven't been too hard, which is good! :heheh: But there are more than a few that aren't easy to retrieve. ;)

These are the memorable ones for me...

I became a fan of these artist after hearing these songs...

Smoke On The Water - Deep Purple
Heart Of Gold - Neil Young
Ramblin' Man - Allman Brothers Band
Aqualung - Jethro Tull
Maggie May - Rod Stewart
Let It Rain - Eric Clapton
Karn Evil 9 - 1st Impression -Part 2 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh
Help Me - Joni Mitchell
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Rock and Roll All Nite (Live) - Kiss
Dancin' Fool - Frank Zappa
Cat Scratch Fever - Ted Nugent

I remember the first time I heard ''Snot running down his nose'', me and my friends went wild, we thought that was so cool.
:heheh:

EXCELLENT thread idea, Rocker440!

:cheers2

Cool, but what did some other people think about those lyrics when they heard them, more specifically your parents or older friends and relatives? Some song lyrics that either of my parents heard were mostly misunderstood, misintrepreted, or quickly banished from my music rotation, except with the use of headphones! :phones: :D

:cheers2

Wicked thread Rocker440.

This is a great idea got me thinking about who and when I was introduced to my fave bands .. ace stuff.

:cheers2

Thanks, Sox! I do have many fond memories connected to a lot of the first songs that I've heard, whether it was from various types of tapes, records, and also radio.

I would both like to say thanks for everyone posting so many great, special songs here! Imo, it's terrific to see the different styles, influences, music and memories associated with the first songs and their impressions upon many cool people and also over the years, too, imo! :cheers2

Sox introduced me to a fair few bands when we got together ten years ago, we'd be trundling along in the car & on would come a song that I immediately loved but had never heard the band before. Here's a couple that stand out:

Since I went to see them earlier this year, thought I'd put down the first Jethro Tull song I ever heard. It wasn't until late 80's, and I had filched one of my dad's tapes to listen to, it was a compilation - The Marquee 30 Legendary Years (& I think I also got my first taste of Mott The Hoople on there too with All The Young Dudes)

Excellent! I'd guess that you've introduced Sox to a few good pearlers, too! :grinthumb
Those are all great songs and bands, imo! I've had to do some rather hard thinking to remember the first Jethro Tull song that I heard, but I'm pretty sure it was this corker:

Imo, music is one of the most universal ways to express so many things and feelings, as well as just being able to enjoy those moments, tunes and situations, whether with friends, or not! :)
