Guitarist Uli Jon Roth left the Scorpions after the live album 'Tokyo Tapes' and was replaced by Michael Schenker who had been givin' the boot out of UFO for drug and alcohol abuse.

With six releases with Uli Jon Roth which album do you prefer:

Lonesome Crow(1972)
Fly to the Rainbow(1974)
In Trance(1975)
Virgin Killer(1976)
Taken By Force(1977)
Tokyo Tapes(1978)

In Trance, Virgin Killer and Taken By Force are all great great albums. Side one of Taken By Force is very very very good. As a whole Virgin Killer maybe is better. In Trance still is a great album though. A tough choice. Taken By Force by a whisper then. :grinthumb

I love the early stuff. I have Lonesome Crow, Fly to the Rainbow on vinyl and digital and the rest on CD. My favorite is Taken By Force. I just saw Uli live touring in support of MSG a couple years ago. AWESOME .....

Thanx LOU, you're absolutely right that Michael Schenker played on the first album then left to UFO and Uli came aboard in 1973.

I'm with you LOU, In Trance is my fav.

^^Hey Lou I once read that Michael played his first gig with Rudy's band when he was just 11 years old, in a night club somewhere.

All the studio albums are pretty good, but Uli Roth really shines on the live album ''Tokyo Tapes''
