^^^^ Ahh yeah, old Jerry Reed picking away on the guitar on that one. Another incredible guitar talent.

Good tune.

One song that I've loved since my childhood, a tune that to this day I still love to just crank up and enjoy the hell out of. One of Elvis' last big chart hits, climbing to #2 in 1972.

Burning Love

I still remember playing this record when no one was around back when I was a kid. Microphone in hand, doing my best Elvis impression(s) including flailing my arm around and practicing my sneer. :D

I knew someone in high school who was completely obsessed with Elvis. Which is considerably understandable. She wasn't one of those "omg i love elvis" fans though, she knew her stuff and a lot about his life and all that. For me however, I haven't listened to enough of Elvis to really give him a proper opinion, though I do enjoy his music whenever I take the time to listen.

Have you ever wondered when Elvis bought Graceland?

He purchased Graceland March 19, 1957 for a cool $102,500.00 USD.

Today Graceland is a National Historic Landmark, and receives approx. 600,000 visitors annually.

I have some very strong ties with Elvis.

First of all, I dig him. I mean, Elvis was just absolutely cool. Larger than life, he was. There could be a roomful of past presidents, dignitaries, Nobel winners, world leaders and the biggest names in hollywood.

But, when Elvis walked in, Elvis was in the room, and that was that.

Secondly, I was 13 when Elvis died. It was the first time I ever saw my mom cry. I won't ever forget that.

Lastly, when my wife and I were choosing a wedding day, and we had it narrows down to August. I told her if she wanted to be sure I never forgot our anniversary, then we should get married on the day Elvis died. And we did. August 16, 1991.

In today's economy, I wonder what that $102.5k would translate to.

Very neat story, Vehicle.

I remember the day Elvis died also. I was 16 and we had just begun making a float for the first football game of high school. All of us heard it on the radio, and we looked at each other in disbelief.

Elvis was larger than life, and a very generous person. I dont think there has ever been another music performer with the charisma Elvis had.

I have all his movies on DVD, too :)
