Just dug this Mainstream label disc out.... (must have been a London purchase)... Was big time into them years ago... Part of Boston's "bosstown scene"... They never released on single the best song!
'One Is A Lonliest Number'.... which was then nabbed by Three Dog Night... anyways enuff waffle - 1968 all over it.

Lots of good music in '68. :cool:

Some pretty crummy social/political/historical events though. :( MLK assassination in April. Bobby Kennedy 2 months later. Riots all over the U.S. in protest of the Vietnam War. A number of other things that I'm not going to go into.

But the music... yeah, some great stuff that year.

(a short sample of some of the outstanding music from 1968):

* Cream - White Room
* Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
* Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
* Beatles - Hey Jude
* Zombies - Time of the Season
* CCR - Suzie Q
* Doors - Hello, I Love You
* Guess Who - These Eyes
* Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
* Deep Purple - Hush

... and so many more
All played on AM radio.

As a kid i haunted two places the library and the cinema (both providing a cornucopia of escapism).. Kitchen Sink Drama was the strapline of the time - to me it was my life reflected on screen. Abortion, dead end jobs, poverty and the pub... All the ingredients for movie reality.
Manfred Mann's theme tune was dreamy..

Discovered these 50 odd years after 1968...a great NYC band, releasing one album. I found a re-release cd copy and it's on repeat here.
Did another band record 'The Great Brain Robbery'? (it's sounds familiar)
Anyways :
Autosalvage - Autosalvage.
