1960s was certainly the most creative decade in the history of music, all genres combined. As a minimum, the scale and intensity of the revolution in popular music that erupted in the sixties have not been - and probably will never be - surpassed.

In my posts, I will try to show how rock was born and how exceptionally gifted young musicians pioneered new music.

I'm a bit puzzled when it comes to the origins of Rock Music (as opposed to Rock 'n' Roll in the 1950s), my music book suggests that by the early 1960s Rock 'n' Roll was moving towards Rock, though the likes of people like Del Shannon fall under that Rock 'n' Roll banner, though perhaps continued on to become Rock orientated.

Perhaps the swing from Rock 'n' Roll to just Rock plays a part of the instrumentation such as the Electric Guitar, I don't know if Les Paul had anything to do with that, the wikipedia site on him shows a range of Guitars in different shapes, though some of those pre-date Rock 'n' Roll itself.
