Been doing some additions and subtractions the last while, part of an ongoing overhaul/downsizing/upgrading cycle I'm doing...and the very last one for me.
Anyway I put some old AR 18's on Kijiji last week for a steal at $30.00 They were my Mom's, she bought them in 1979 but somewhere along the way Dad replaced one of the old woofers with a mismatched replacement...

I have looked everywhere but can't find it because these days you can refoam any driver ever made no matter how old. Anyway if I had the original woofer I would have asked $60.00. Had a bunch of replies and one asshole told me he would offer $15.00 for the pair. I laughed and told him I could part them out for more than that easily, but was offering them at a good bargain price for a serious collector, after all I just want to find them a good home and parting them out is something I wanted to avoid. So he sent me a snotty reply..."GOOD LUCK WITH THE SALE!!" in bold capital letters.

I told him I wasn't worried, some collector would buy them and after all $30.00 was not That much money.
The next day a guy my age answered the ad, lived in the same city as me and came over and bought them. He's a collector himself, actually one of the few people I've met who has more gear than I do...
We ending up talking stereo's for an hour, and I will keep in touch with him via e-mail after I move. Just felt good not giving the AR's to cheapskate asshole and finding a nice home for them with a collector who respects the old quality equipment.
Those old acoustic suspension speakers had a very sweet sound, because of the old paper cone tweeters. I just don't use them anymore and can't keep everything.
