I will be upgrading my cartridge later this year as well...but the CD player I needed now.

Dual makes a nice one too, about $350.00 with a nice Cartridge included...but I am not sure you want a new one That much.;)

^^Indeed, the Dual doesn't have a USB cable, it's just a regular TT you hook up with RCA connectors.:grinthumb

The Linn Sondek LP12 turntable made the number one slot on Stereophile's list of the most important audio components of all time:

Stereophile's Hot 100 Products

Here's a good pic of a Linn Sondek LP12:

I know I've posted elsewhere that I'm not convinced that the vinyl thing is that far ahead of digital, but I'll make an exception for a Linn Sondek. A thing of absolute beauty!

^^Linn does possess a legendary reputation Coltrane and prices to go with it...:D

Picked up a nice inexpensive cartridge yesterday for my Mom's old Technics DL-2 turntable a Grado "Black" for $60.00...

Just finished installing and calibrating it, tested it with "Hydra" by Toto and sounds really good. Probably take about 20-40 hours of playing time to "break in" the cartridge. I like Grado, from entry level to esoteric they make Really good quality and have for decades.

It's amazing, this old Turntable has been packed away for over 15 years, but cleaned it off installed the Grado cartridge pictured above and it's performing perfectly. Technics did make some legendary Turntables, most likely the best audio equipment they ever manufactured.

Here's a picture of the D2 I have running now. I might put this one on Kijiji after I make sure it's up to specs, and having a working cartridge makes it a lot easier to sell. The only reason I might keep it is simply because it was my Mom's and reminds me of her.

I had two of those LG and for what I used them for they did the job.. The one thing I needed was a direct drive because I hand spun the records to mix so you have to have something that stay synced to the other table.. those are belt driven if I'm correct and belts wear out and fluxuate some during mixing. Techniques high end tables at the time were these.

This Technics is direct drive Slip...both my TT's are. My brother had a Rega belt drive years ago and I didn't like it at all. But the old Dual I owned was excellent for years and it was a belt drive. If I ever do get another belt drive TT, I will order some essential spare parts(Belts etc.) when I buy it.:D

I might end up doing just that JG...I still have two of her amplifiers and a nice pre-amp, but two pieces need repairs, and I have to find out how much they cost before making that decision.

But this old gear is Quality built, you can feel it and hear it easily and none of them were made in China, just Japan and the US and Canada.
