HT & Music...

Musikwala, if you're system is capable of straight two channel stereo format despite all the DSPs than yes it qualifies. It probably does sound great like you stated. Not too many HT owners have towers for the front and the back. Nice... Usually it is smaller satellites or monitors for the rears. Do you deploy a subwoofer may I ask?

Yes, I don't have any digital files or albums that are music either other than compiles I made for my computer and iPod. That thing is handy for the gym or when I am stuck waiting somewhere not wanting to listen to canned office music. All of which were copies from the CDs that I own. And of course, I have them at the least possible compression.

Yes I have a subwoofer, a centre speaker and then the 2 front and 2 rear towers.

Btw, I love the band photos in your sig and that classic line from Over The Hills. Zep rocks!!

Well, you have the complete set then. It is an all in one kit. If you have it calibrated and set-up to your liking, then I'm sure it rocks! I'm not up to the times but some receivers and processors now have the technology to make up the missing bits from lossy formats via USBs or other computer connection for MP3s and related mediums. If your digital format is lossless then it doesn't matter and it should be a question of how well it was mixed for the format. As long as it sounds great to you, that is all that matters.

Thanks for the compliments. You have an iconic avatar as well of Lennon.

It's a bit odd isn't it? :D To most, it is about listening at the moment but not with a critical mindset cats like us do. Busy lives or other responsibilities keep them from doing so but I am willing to bet if they sat down with a good system they will appreciate what an "actual" listening experience is all about.

My cousin came down for a night and we listened to The Beatles "Help" off the re-masters box. He really dug it. The other day, some kid passing out flyers chanced upon my record collection in the garage and gave me a nice complement. There will always be that faction who will be inquisitive about the old formats and what is was all about. The fun is in the discovery.

that big one in the back resembles me :D

Musikwala, like George says your all set if you enjoy the sound. that's what matters.

George, you are right about 85*. right now I am not sure what exactly why it isn't triggering. its possible its coming on and turning off really quickly, the fans move so much air its possible. I am going to try a handy dandy hair dryer to control the heat a bit more.

Test results are in. It does work the way I thought fans on/off.

using the hair dryer I was able to trigger the fans.

I then set up a thermometer to measure air temp. while doing the hair dryer 83-85* Fans were triggered. I cut the hair dryer and it took about 50 seconds for the fans to shut down.

this cool stuff. A OK

UPDATE:
In case anyone is interested.

The radiant heat from the component seem to trigger the temp sensor differently. the test above used direct heat from the dryer. When the sensor is on the top vent of the component is does not trigger on until a thermometer reading of approx. 96* then off at 93*.

So assume the component will run about 10* warmer than the sensor specs.

^I used a laser thermometer to find the spot, then measure temp when fans trigger.

did the same thing with the hair dryer test.

I believe the heat from the component is radiant and rises out of the vent into the box that holds the sensor just needs a bit more "energy build" up to trigger the sensor.

Just to be clear I am completely satisfied with the fans very happy. just debating if I want use the sensor right now
