If it is a genre you can't get into isn't it pointless to post that in a thread for someone clearly wanting some symphonic rock?

In your opinion it is, but to me and obviously others it isn't.
Seriously this thread OP asked for help because they wanted some of that music, lets be respectful of that.

I don't know of any "symphonic rock" bands, but the Introduction album by Marty Friedman is pretty awesome. No vocals, orchestral arragements and killer melodic shredding guitar from Megadeth's guitarist. Huh, imagine that a metal guitarist going all symphonic! :D

Also, from Australia the band Sebastian Hardie is actually classified as symphonic rock but I'd say they're more proggy/fusion oriented. Very melodic.

Thank You

Guy's

A very big thank you to all for responding to my thread, I have purchased some of your suggested albums.

As for whether this genre isn't for everyone, well firstly I listen to a very large range of music from heavy rock to jazz to classical music, whatever my mood and I respect all genres whether I like it or not.

I have posted this request on a classical forum and between the two I have discovered some fantastic recordings that truely inspire.

John McLaughlin - Apocalypse
Frank Zappa - Orchestral Favourites
John & Vince Mendoza Scofield - 54
Uli Jon Roth - Metamorphosis
Carlos Santana - Illuminations
Mike Keneally - The Universe Will Privide
Stephen Caudel - Wine Dark Sea

Being a few of them, and there hopefully is more to come with your help.

To those who simply think this genre is a load of ..............I suggest you actually take the time to really listen and discover (as I have) how good some of this music is.

Thanks again all and please keep the suggestions coming.

Cheers

I was going to suggest WITHIN TEMPTATION....like posssibly the Mother Earth album, but you're looking for stuff without vocals. Lots of great suggestions so far.
