I've got a bike, you can ride if you like
it's got a basket, a bell that rings
and things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could
but I borrowed it
You're the kind of girl
that fits in with my world
I'll give you anything, everything
if you want thing
I've got a cloak, it's a bit of a joke
there's a tear up the front, it's red and black
I've had it for months
if you think it gould look good
then I guess it should
I know a mouse and he hasn't got a house
I don't know why I call him Gerald
He's getting rather old but he's a good mouse
I've got a clan of gingerbread men
here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men
take a couple if you wish, they're on the dish
I know a room of musical tunes
Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockwork
let's go into the other room and make them work

That truly is a sad thing. I`ve always been partial to Syd`s music, and unlike most PF fans liked the Syd-era stuff more than after. Good-bye...and thanks for the inspiration.

gosh, he was just in the news not long ago.
I forgot why.
a sad end to one of rock and roll's greatest footnotes.
I think it's a good bet that he'll be more appreciated after his death, I think there's a movie in the pipeline.

I just hope he's appreciated for his talent and his brief shining moments more than for his problems. I have a soft spot for his "solo albums" I realize they are troubling to some for the notes he doesn't hit and that sort of thing. I think it's great that we have them. One of my favorite sixties character gone at 60.
rest in peace Syd!!!

'Cause we're the fishes and all we do
the move about is all we do
well, oh baby, my hairs on end about you

I really think his influence will continue to be felt largely because of those he influenced (like Bowie and T-Rex) who influenced others.

oh, and there's that whole Pink Floyd thing... :)
I know his lyrics really make a lot of people gag but I think he was funny and playful.
you know, aside from being kind of crazy.

I just hope he's not ONLY remembered as "famous rock and roll crazy guy"
still, better than nothing.

In a state of deep, deep fascination
His solo material kind of resounded with me. Moreso than most of the stuff he did with Floyd in fact. His material really stands out with it's childishness and playfulness. He has alot of respect from me as an artist.

There's no question that what came after him IMO was a stratospheric upswing from what the band was doing when he was the lead. It's just really not a fair comparison as the music of both times are so drastically different.

Most sad news. Though I am one of those who tend to prefer post-Syd Pink Floyd, I really do think his work was inspired and a mark of genius.

Sad news indeed. My 16 year old son recently got into Floyd, mostly Dark Side and and WYWH. A week ago I introduced him to Pipers during a long car trip. Think I'll give it a listen again tonight while I watch the All Star game with the sound off. That should be a sufficiently absurd way to celebrate Syd.

I never liked Pink Floyd that much, but I do respect them a good deal. It's always a shame to lose one of those really great musicians. I am still can't believe Waren Zevon is dead.

EDIT: Just read Spike's post. I think I will listen to Piper to celebrate his life, too. The very least I can do.
