According to the interview Oprah did with Steven & Fiance'.....they have been together now for 7 years........and she accepts the fact he isn't monogamous.

^^Didn't know that, just went on first impressions of an Aging rock star and his nubile Young enough to be his daughter, girlfriend.

7 years is respectable in that world.;)

MP, you're a crazy man! Modern country is nothing like the good ole glam days.........

But I will say, you definitely gave me a chuckle :heheh:

:heheh:

Well maybe I should have elabortaed. After Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead Or Alive you started seeing the country twang in hair metal...maybe not all of it but alot of it.

Just check out Fallen Angel, Every Rose or Nothin' But A Good Time by Poison.

All three of those are almost modern country of today. I could see Taylor Swift doing all three of them and not changing the arrangement all that much. :heheh:

I just think that's outstanding (the Tyler/Carrie duet)... but then for me Steve Tyler can do no wrong at all - for my money he's the most charismatic band frontman in rock, and has been for 30 years, ahead even of Mick Jagger imo, what he does is he communicates with an audience simply by his presence and before he even opens his mouth to sing, and they feed off him, even if you are back row in the arena. He even gives American Idol some credibility, and since he joined the show I almost never miss it...though I also have a Jennifer Lopez thing going on, and she's reason enough to watch it! I really hope we get to see/hear Aerosmith again, for me they are pretty much peerless at what they do, and Tyler is a magnetic guy.

I'd be willing to bed good money TS that it was a strategic move on Nigel Lythgoe's part to place Steven on the judges panel. Your tuning into the show because of him is proof enough. With the loss of Simon Cowell and a certain ratings decline they needed to try to draw in a new demographic that perhaps had snubbed the show in the past because of its pop reputation and catering to the younger generations. Steven brought a new group of fans in and has more clout and knowledge in the music biz than Cowell ever did (though we all miss him). He gives useful advice and criticisms to the contestants based on his experiences and is ten times more valuable than J. Lo (who, let's face it, can't sing up to par with most of the contestants themselves). I enjoy his charisma and what he brings to the show.

ILJP, yes, though I still think AI is basically garbage, like all reality TV, but I watch it now because Tyler is so entertaining, and I agree with most of what you say there. Though J-Lo is one of my all time musical guilty-pleasures, at first I confess it was mostly an infatuation with her rear-end!...but the more you get to listen to her she has superb analysis of singers and performance, and she's very witty, and seems a sweet person, and I always had a soft spot for her records as my wife is a huge fan of hers, so I couldn't have avoided her music over the years even if I had wanted to!! Randy Jackson is the one on the show who I totally don't get, all I can find out about him pre-American Idol that particularly impresses me, is that he was a session musician and he apparently once played bass with Springsteen, the Blue Oyster Cult, and Whitesnake, but his sole contribution to AI seems to be the obligatory "Good job dawg" to almost every contestant.

He worked with Journey for about a year or so two back in the mid-eighties too. I appreciate that he's stuck it out this long on the show so having him there sort of reminds me of the good old days with Simon's weird haircut and Paula's drunken antics. :grinthumb

Also think since Tyler's addition there's been a little more emphasis on rock appreciation on the show (it could have also been since Adam Lambert but strengthened since T joined the panel) and that makes the show a little more enjoyable for me. I get tired of all the soul songs and belter classics and country so it's nice to vary it up a little. :D
