Not a big fan of Achilles (yeah yeah, I know I'm in the minority here), but it gets my vote because Lennon butched the **** out of Stand By Me. He should have been slapped for even considering doing that tune, much less actually recording it. Horribad!!!

Zeppelin. That Lennon cover sucks.

Couldn't agree more! Ben E. Kings version was THE version of that song! Legend or not and Lennon is my favorite Beatle, he's not a great singer. Ben E. King has a great singing voice and it matches that song to have soul AND a great singing voice. So, Achilles here by a million miles!

I find the Lennon version charming but it's not his best cover from the Rock and Roll album.

I'll take his Slippin' and a Slidin' or Peggy Sue over it.

As much as I love John I really could never get on with his cover of Stand By Me and Achilles Last Stand is one of my faves by Zep.
