^^ That's pretty much exactly why I didn't vote for it either, it's obviously one of the most fantastic songs of the whole rock era, but I'm personally no longer drooling at the mouth everytime I hear a Zeppelin track like I probably was when I was a young man, probably due to over-exposure to them back in the day, I think even today anyone just discovering classic rock music and hearing Stairway for the first time would be totally floored by its brilliance.

^^It's not that I hate "Stairway..." but Zeppelin did so many other really good songs I get tired of this one winning. Goes back to growing up during the golden age of FM radio, every year all the AM and FM stations had their New Year's contest and it was either "Hey Jude" or "Stairway to Heaven" that won,,,for years it was the same result.

I do play IV and I enjoy the whole album but there was a period of over 10 years I never wanted to hear Stairway again.

Here in Holland in the all time greatest lists it's always between Stairway, Child in Time and Hotel California.

Nice to see Purple getting some respect.

I didn't really like Hotel California when it came out, I enjoy that album more now but I still prefer early Eagles.

2 years ago, I wouldn't have even considered Stairway, but I gained a newfound appreciation for it again in the past year or so. But, there are a couple of other great tracks here.

So, for now, I only have my choice narrowed down to Zeppelin vs Rare Earth vs Ten Years After
