Parry & Blake's Jerusalem by Emerson, Lake & Palmer.

Close to the Edge by Yes.

British progressive rock bands were brought up with, and therefore inspired by, Anglican church music, as I was.

Jesus is Just Alright With Me by The Doobie Brothers.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, which may not be overtly religious.

The Gospel Road album by Johnny Cash. Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar original albums too.

Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum.

Everything is Beautiful by Ray Stevens.

Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens.

Peter Gabriel-Solsbury Hill

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night

He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
I had to listen had no choice

I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom, boom
"Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."

To keeping silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut

So I went from day to day
Tho' my life was in a rut
'Till I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey," he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home."
Yeah back home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free

Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes, but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me

Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."

I posted about an album I picked up a few days ago in the "CD, DVD, Vinyl" thread, and after listening to it once I have decided not to follow the path and convert to "Hare Krishna"...:heheh:

I won't post the song, but I almost fell out of my chair when I listened to it, this album is going back to the 2nd hand shop to be traded in for a Metal album.:grinthumb

I have never heard Lake before, but I thought that track, Jesus Came Down, was really good with some nifty guitar at the end.

Can't believe this one hasn't been posted yet. Or maybe it was in one of those old, disabled videos. Anyway, here it is:

Their debut is really good, I bought the CD a couple of years ago. It came with "Paradise Island" as a 2 for 1. I haven't seen Lake II which I used to own on vinyl, not sure if it made it to CD or not.
