I play guitar, well I try
I am never happy with my playing just the way I am. Kinda hard on my self it never sounds good to me. Plus I learn new things every day I pick up my guitar.

as for my gear I have a custom built Revolt Amplifier with my signature Holy Grail Mod design and a Revolt 4 X 12 cab. for effects I use Digitech because I love the effects that Digitech provides they just sound natural to me and clean. I also Use a Morley George Lynch Dragon Wah, I used to use the Steve Vai but found the Lynch to have a better Sweep and complements my technique when I use a wah. And who am i kidding I love George Lynch. lol

As for guitars I have been using the same Ibanez rg series guitar since 1995 loaded with EMGs I aso have a old San Dimas Charvel guitar all natural Koa with EMGs and is the only guitar I own with a Khaler Trem. It's cool but I prefer my original Floyd Rose.
I have a few other guitars Some Ibanez and 2 custom built strats.

The neck is very fluid/smooth, so much more than my epi sg neck, who would have thought....

Although I posted an old pic of the M-38 before, I thought I'd put up a few more that I took last week after it returned from the luthier where it had a neck reset and bridge reglue (both done with hide glue), new frets and new bone saddle, and removal and reinstallation of the pickguard to repair the trademark Martin "B string crack." It's like a new guitar, but better since it still has 33 years of play in it. All the work is super clean, the sound is about 200% better and it plays like butter. I'm extremely happy. The work was done by Greg Voros at Gruhn's in Nashville:

Thanks ebe. As far as dollar value goes, it suffers from being from an era that was kind of a dark period for Martin. They had a number of issues with their assembly in the '70s, though those issues were limited to the early part of the decade, and strictly to models other than the M series, which was introduced in 1976 or 1977 (it was mostly the high-volume Ds they messed up - mis-located bridges, massive tone-killing rosewood bridgeplates, etc.). Even so, it gets tarred with the same brush when people generalize vintage instrument values. This model new retails for about $4200, but can be had for about 40% off of that figure. The book value on '77s is only $1800-$2400, with mine at the higher end of that spread because it's pretty much mint. But as the luthier told me, its tone and condition can't even be approached for anything under $3K today. Maybe in another 10 years it'll get a little more respect from collectors. Not that I plan to sell it. It's going to one of my nephews when I'm gone (the other one gets the banjo).

Even with that disappointingly low estimated value though, it's still worth a little more than twice what I spent on it when I bought it second-hand in '79. I think the key to getting a good value on a Martin is to find a good second-hand instrument and hang onto it for 30+ years. You don't have the warranty for the ultimately necessary neck reset, but that's less than the difference you pay between a new and used guitar.
