Yeah the SCORPIONS (or the SCORPS as a lot of rock/metal fan's called them) were ok i use to like there on stage 'human triangle' loads of laughs :oyea:

There first album LONESOME CROW is surprisenly a 'good album' if you listen to it for a while it's a pretty 'solid rock' album from the early 1970s.

I always put them in the same league as the swiss rock/metal band KROKUS from the late 1970s & early 1980s which isn't meant to be a put down i liked both bands.

I haven't heard any of the early Scorpions albums or anything by Uli Jon Roth.

I ain't a regular Scorpions fan just someone that likes some of there previous albums. I haven't heard the following albums for maybe 10-15 years and only then about once each right the way through but FLY TO THE RAINBOW isn't nothing special i vaguely recall but IN TRANCE & VIRGIN KILLER are ok although i can't remember if i've heard the TAKEN BY FORCE album?. Probably the 'live album' TOKYO TAPES is the best featuring Uli Jon Roth?.

True Scorpion fan's will probably have a better take on the above albums?.

Interesting this Scorpions thread recently got bumped up ...

Last weekend I acquired a copy of Fly To The Rainbow on vinyl. I knew they had albums in the early 70’s but I was still surprised (but pleased) to find this one. Uli Jon Roth is on this record. I thought the first track, Speedy’s Coming, IMO started out sounding somewhat like the Scorpions most are familiar with then the rest of the album I thought was very 60’s-ish sounding – but I liked it, want to listen to it some more.

I think you really can’t go wrong with a Scorpions album!

My first exposure to the Scorpions was in 1981 with the Animal Magnetism album. A guy I knew at the time came over with a bunch of records for us to listen to and played “The Zoo” for me. I bought my own copy not too long afterward. Oddly it wasn’t until much later on that I started getting more Scorpions albums. Now I have about a half dozen on vinyl including that old copy of Animal Magnetism. I also have a boatload of Scorpions albums on CD, mainly the late 70’s and 80’s albums and a couple newer ones. There’s a few older and more recent albums I should look into getting ...

The Zoo is a great track. So is the title track and Make it Real. I've been listening to Ygwie Malmsteen's Inspiration album recently and I understand he was influenced by Uli Jon Roth, so I might have to seek him out. I am not really into the so-called shredding style of guitar playing, but Malmsteen is pretty good.

been spinning my Scorpions vinyl today, Taken By Force and In Trance. When you hear people talk about bands that helped shape heavy metal, you never hear the mid '70's Scorpions mentioned and that is a shame. I love the 70's Scorps!

Yeah when you hear the first album and realize it was recorded in 1972 it hits home that these guys were on the vanguard of metal.
