I disagree with you, I am a REAL Rush fan, had all their albums on vinyl up to "Signals" and Moving Pictures is my favorite record, not only mine but the majority of Rush's fans rate that one very highly as well. It is their masterpiece to me because as a band they had reached their pinnacle in all aspects.

Nice to see you getting into Rush young Rattlehead...I think they are one of the top 10 bands in rock history myself.:D

I am seeing why they are so high on peoples favourite band lists.
As far as consistently good albums go I definitely put this band highly. I am a massive fan now of the 70s albums that Id heard anyway, Moving Pictures was also pretty damn good. This is a long but fun musical exploration to undertake in. :D

Rather though then just recommend me albums to get, what are some I should maybe hesitate on buying and just youtube first? Because all the albums I have so far are enjoyable. Don't wanna 'rush' in and get a CD without really having seen any feedback or at least heard a tune.

^^Hard for me to be objective Riff...Rush has changed over the decades. I have all of their albums, "Vapor Trails" I think you should check out first on YT, the band Hated the studio mix of that recording.

Fair enough. Cheers.
I must say I do like when bands can admit their own recordings can be average in mix. In fact I respect bands who can admit to that.

Even though I disagree with Moving Pictures being their best I would never argue with anyone's preferences all the way up to and including that album. I can't really say which one is my favorite. I used to say Hemispheres but that means Caress of Steel, Farewell to Kings, 2112 and All the World's a Stage must be ranked second tier.

That will not do.

So now I just say I love that era of Rush most. I remember the second time I saw Rush we had skybox seats and we let this older guy into the box. He was kind of bummed out by everything passed 2112 and I just couldn't believe anyone who liked the band could feel that way. Another good friend of mine thinks Rutsey was better for the band and loved that album way more than anything else. The kicker is that this friend is a really good drummer and still feels this way.

To each his own and I'm really glad to read about someone's discovery of this great band. They are the group that truly made me want to play an instrument.

Part of the fun of being a Rush fan is knowing they are always evolving. Even though the synth era is not my favorite era, there are still great tunes on those records. As a guitar apprentice myself I always resented the fact that Alex had to compete with keyboards. They fixed that with Counterparts and every record since then. I would say Presto would be the record I would least gravitate towards but I love it all so it's tough to say. I think the material on Vapor Trails is great but the production is clearly Rush's worst sounding record. I hope they release it again as they have eluded to in the past.

The Anarchist is one of the better tunes on Clockwork Angels. Some of the reviews claimed Wish Them Well was the clunker. I don't think this record has one to be honest.

As much as I liked Clockwork, it sits at the bottom when it comes to Rush album order of albums I enjoyed the most.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't go as far as saying it's one of their best albums.

Hell I think I like Grace Under Pressure, Signals and Power Windows more
