Re: The Official Rush Thread

The problem with Vapor Trails is the mix. Everything is maxed out and there is no dynamic range for the acoustic guitars etc. The material is dark and you knew it would be considering what Neil went through. The good news is that it is being remixed and remastered. I always thought the material was strong but was disappointed with the sound quality. Now, it will receive the proper treatment and everyone will rejoice.

Those Alex Lifeson model Les Paul's are to die for. As versatile as the Neal Schon model at a better price, lol. Most think it's bogus to put a Floyd Rose on a Les Paul but I don't. If you don't wish to use it then lock it down. The colors are great and the piezo pickup gives you lots of combinations tonally. I've got a VG Strat and may have to grab one of those as well. Don't tell the wife.

Re: The Official Rush Thread

Probably already made my choice clear, Snakes and Arrows. Failing that, I think they made 5 maybe 6 albums that will be remembered for decades as great rock albums - 2112, Farewell to Kings, Moving Pictures, Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, and Vapour Trails. But they never made a truly bad record, some of their synth-dominated stuff is maybe a bit anal, but even that is interesting. Only album I don't play that often is Fly by Night, and there's a couple I don't have from the late 80's and early 90's.

But CREAM'd, to answer your question without prattling on too much, too late for that, oh well!!!...Snakes and Arrows!!!

How could you leave Counterparts off your list! :omg:

hehe now I must give that album a spin... too good! :grinthumb

Re: The Official Rush Thread

I like something off every Rush album, which isn't unusual for a die hard fan, but the albums that cemented Rush as "THE" band for me are:

Permanent Waves
Moving Pictures
Signals
Grace Under Pressure

Like a ton of their other stuff too but the "big 4" for me just keep getting better with age and I never tire of them.

Absolutely top notch band, brilliant live act, classic album after classic album.

From 2112 through to Power Windows, they are all memorable albums. Everything after that is quality, same lineup since 73/74 is fantastic.

I love A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres and Moving Pictures the best.

So many great songs :)
