i saw Rory mainly in Liverpool and Manchester, i originally come from the Wirral just across from the Mersey..also saw him in London a few times...really wish i had been born a decade earlier, then i would have seen him in his absolute prime.

The lands of Marshall Stack.
Yeah...I saw Joe is coming over...Neil Young is here too....but cash restrictions are abound!
I'm off to Villa Park next week...then shagging off to Spain .
Ballyshannon is great...not been to the Festival though. Cork adopted him..and most pubs there play tribute when a guitarist plugs in.
Those Taste singles on the Major Minor label seem to be pressed and recorded at high level...10 times better than any CD!

Old Swan was a place I visited many times..as my neighbour drove a lorry for Marshalls.

The guy I am referring to in my post above is an Italian guy named Roberto Manes a musician and music teacher who's primary instrument is the violin (and electric violin) although he does play guitar and some keyboards as well. Roberto told me that back in 1992 he was playing a 'pub gig' in south west London in a pub on the Fulham road in the area of London where Rory was living back then and Roberto was playing with his small ensemble of musicians with himself on electric violin and apparently after the set Rory who was in the audience came up and had a chat with Roberto telling him that he liked his violin playing and inviting Roberto to play four up coming gigs with Rory's band with Roberto playing his electric violin on stage with the band. Anyway after about four days of rehearsals in a central London rehearsal studio Rory and his band along with Roberto played the 4-gigs one of which was in Glasgow (Scotland) at a open air festival performing in daylight back in 1992 and in fact I have seen the picture with Rory standing centre stage as was his usual position and Roberto standing to Rory's far left on the stage with the violin tucked under his cheek with the bow sliding over the strings!.

Roberto told me that his favourite musical style is Jazz/Rock although we talk a lot about late 1960s & 1970s US & British rock.
i saw Rory a couple of times in London in the late 80s....one of them was at the Mean Fiddler in Harlseden in NW London..The Mean Fiddler were having a week of Irish rock music and Rory kicked off the week as the main act..it was being sponsored by Ryan Air..Gerry McAvoy fell of the stage that night during one of Rorys raucous songs, but he jumped straight back up and started playing again laughing it off..Brilliant...the other time i saw him in London was at the Borderline club in central london..it was just a one off gig in tribute to English female blues singer Jo Ann Kelly who was seriously ill at the time with a brain tumour,. she sadly died a year or so later..the proceeds from the gig went to her...she had a brilliant blues voice, worth checking her out.

yeah!..Dumpys Rusty Nuts, that brilliant South London biker band...i saw them a couple of times in Birkenhead, Wirral at the old Stairways hard rock night club..they played there regularly..Stairways was a brilliant rocking out club/venue...and if you take a look at the list of bands on at that festival were a band called 'Engine' they came from Birkenhead and they were an excellent boogie band..saw them at Stairways too, it was their hometown gig.

Rory's long serving bass player Gerry McAvoy put this album out in 1980, titled 'Bassics'...Side A was tracks recorded in the studio, and this excellent blues number was from side B which was recorded from a pub in Canning Town in London..Rory wasn't in the recording studio at the time and he was having a break from touring so it gave Gerry a bit of time to put this album out..Rory didn't feature on the album...Difficult album to get hold of i believe.
