Re: Rory Gallagher

Sox, didn't you say you saw Rory live? Man, I bet he put on a good show. You can feel his passion just by hearing him. I bet it's even more obvious when seeing him in the flesh.

Re: Rory Gallagher

I was very lucky, I got to see him a couple of times at The Rock City in Nottingham. His shows went on 'till the small hours. Very soft spoken and almost shy when he talked .. then he cranked into a number and just knocked you for six.

My Mum and Dad are great fans. They saw him 12 times mostly in the UK and a couple of times here in Sydney. The last time they saw him was here in 1991. They also spoke to him and as Sox said, found him to be very quietly spoken and modest. For a while they also wrote to Lou Martin (keyboards) who had a stroke a few years ago.

Re: Rory Gallagher

^^ I think one of the things that stands out for me was the respect the people gave him, folk had been drinking and were in party mode plus it was a night club where I saw him with a bit of a reputation .. yet when he did the quiet acoustic solo numbers the crowd were just mesmerized, he had them in the palm of his hand. Just brilliant.

Unfortunatly not but I would dearly like to Sunny. I did go to a tribute/memorial concert at Buxton shortly after his death though. His brother Donal walked on stage with Rory's guitar and allowed Bernie Marsden play a few Rory tunes on it. That was very emotional.:)

Re: Rory Gallagher

I just got a double live Rory Gallagher DVD and a single comp DVD in the mail the other day.
Haven't checked any of them out yet but plan to later tonight. Haven't heard much of his stuff other then a few songs here and there so far.
