I think it's at about 10-15 mins of apparent inactivity you get logged off. I have to admit I find it a bit frustrating.
I also lost a fair few posts when I was a newbie here because of the time out thing. Now if I'm writing a post and it's taken me a while I will copy it just in case it gets lost (although it should be if you are timed out that you just log in and then 'proceed' so what you've written is still there), then I can just paste it.

Thanks guys (even the porn stuff was enlightening!) I will try the Remember Me thing, though I still think being timed-out at all is extremely demotivating, especially if it happend after you had spent ages creating a long post with lots of links to videos or whatever (which is the thing that finally made me ask/complain!!) Cheers anyway.

I thought I increased that "time out" to 30 minutes a while back. I know I have been getting timed out pretty fast myself lately. I recon I will have to go back and check those settings..........

How does the 30 minutes sound?


The flip side to this is.......the program will show you as logged in for that amount of time once you exit the forum.

I increased the time out......for some reason it was set to 15 minutes. Now you have 30 minutes.

Let's see if this helps things....let me know if you want more time.

I get timed out a lot mainly because of my crappy internet. I'm on dial-up mobile internet, and it's really terrible, cutting out literally every 5 minutes. Sometimes I can reconnect immediately and still be logged in, other times I'll have been signed out. How come I sometimes remain logged in and am sometimes logged out when I lose connection?

Thanks Magic. That should work a bit better for many of us I would think, though for me at least it's still about a half hour less than ideal, nobody can complain about getting logged out after an hour of inactivity, but a lot can happen in 30 minutes to take you away from the site, especially with a house full of kids like I have!! But anyway!! Cheers.

Same with me Pixel I hate my laptop and the nasty usb mobile thing I use. I don't often go on-line - mainly here on this forum. I use the laptop for excel and microsoft word quite a bit for study purposes though.
