A classic by The Kinks. It's interesting to compare the lyrics to this one written about a boy living under the reign of Queen Victoria to the lyrics in Living On A Thin Line written in 1984. Both are about England, but each portrays a different view on fighting for their country. Davies seems to suggest that Englishmen once had a reason to fight for their country, while in recent times, that desire has withered away due to the changes they've experienced. My take on it anyway. 8.5/10
