I once heard, I don't remember where (may have been here), that some time ago some of the world's best drummers tried to reproduce Keith's drum work, and none of them could do it right, so they had to get a computer to do it.

Sound familiar? Anyone have any articles or anything for this? Did this even really happen?

Big Keith Moon fan...but, nope....never heard this....

but, it's true he drove a Lincoln Continental into a swimming pool at a Holiday Inn on his 21st birthday, causing The Who being banned from every Holiday Inn in the U.S.

and passed out on his drum kit in a middle of a concert, when taking horse tranquilizers and....

Obviously this picture was taken before the incident.

^^I don't know about the drumming part TB, but I do remember the story Groovy posted...:lmao:

It is funny when you think about all the antics they got away with for years, but at the same time there was a collision course with destiny looming as well that wasn't funny at all.

No computer reproduced drum sounds will ever replace the great drummers of the past and today, at least not for me they won't.:nw:

I didn't mind the Electric Drums themselves that real drummers used and played around with, and I was not the biggest fan of Disco and could live without them no problem. But I have also partied a lot during that era and when you are dancing and...Preoccupied with other matters they didn't bother me at all.:grinthumb

I've never heard this either but I'd have sincere doubts that a computer would duplicate Keith's playing. That to me is about as likely as saying that a computer could reproduce Hendrix.

I think Eugene Hütz' guitar says all that I have to say on this subject...

Much of Moon's playing was so random and spontaneous, I'd be surprised if anyone or anything could reproduce it...Moon himself couldn't do it.

I don't think Moonie could have replayed the same notes, much less any other drummer.
He just pounded the skins and had a great time doing it.
