Thanks :) It's really difficult getting good shots in the dark with a compact and without a tripod, and the more you zoom the worst the blur gets. I think the main mistake people make under these conditions are using a flash and having their camera on auto/smart setting, flash needs to be off and camera used in manual mode so you can optimize ISO, aperture and shutter speed. You're never going to get great quality pics at a concert though unless you are near to the stage and have an SLR :)

Haha yes, looks like a bottle of lager. I only noticed the beer appear for the encore, so I guess he was being careful, what with all the meds he was on :D

Hey Tray, I also just went last week! I was also very, very impressed!

Yes, Homme is such a top frontman. His singing is so impressingly flawless. I got serious goose bumps when he was singing Vampyre of Time and Memory. And also during Like Clockwork. Very beautiful songs!

Also the drummer. Whoa! He must be in such good shape. They played song for the deaf as their last song in Antwerp as well, and a very long version of it. And wow, the drums are so fast in that song and they just kept on going.

What I also thought was VERY impressive were the background videos. They made really fitting little videos with almost each song and it was playing in the background. This was really nice because the place where the gig was is immense so people who were very far away from the screen still had their share of entertainment. I managed to get quite close to the stage, about 30 metres. Did they also do the videothingies in Manchester, Tray?

I also tooke some very crappy photos with my phone (didn't want to bring my camera because I wanted to dance and it's a quite heavy SLR one). I tried to upload it to my computer but it's not working anymore. Grrr damn phone.

So they played the whole new album except Keep your eyes peeled. And then: In the fade, Little Sister, No one kows, Feel good hit of the summer, song for the deaf, make it with chu, sick sick sick.

I'm probably forgetting some. :) They did start late and didn't finish late, grr!

I kept wondering if you'd pop on here Julie and let us know as I remember you saying you were seeing them around the same time as us :) Sounds like they played the same set as they did over here and you enjoyed the gig just as much as we did :grinthumb

There was a big screen at the back of the stage with moving patterns & pics for odd songs like the vampire in one of the photos I posted, I was probably oblivious to most of them though haha.

I hope you manage to rescue your photos from your phone, what a bummer :uh:

For somebody who only knows 2 songs, No One Knows and Little Sister (both of which I enjoy immensely!)... which is the best first album to get? I'm tempted to get Like Clockwork since it is recent and has gotten rave reviews from almost everywhere. But is it better to start with an earlier album and work my way down??

I'd start with their 2002 album 'Songs For The Deaf' which in my opinion is their best. It's an absolute scorcher of an album, and No One Knows is one of the songs from it.

Ah ok thanks. :) I noticed other fans recommending the same album as starting point at a few places online. But I'm somehow tempted to start with Like Clockwork.

What I do if I can't decide is see which I can pick up for the cheapest and go with that :) Like Clockwork is a good album and I really like it but I know a few fans think it is a bit 'tame', but then there are others that think it's the best album since Songs For The Deaf. My least favourite QOTSA album is Era Vulgaris I think. Whichever you decide on I'm sure you won't be disappointed :grinthumb

I would start with Rated R, it has some great songs as well as being their most complete album experience. It goes to some gloriously unhinged places for an album that made such a mainstream splash too. The psychedelics of Better Living Through Chemistry and saxophone outro of I Think I Lost My Headache especially.
My fave albums are S/T, Rated R and Era Vulgaris, which is very different but very groovy. I didn't get much out of Like Clockwork, and exchanged it, possibly too soon, but I had a pretty violent reaction against it.
