Music Calms The Savage Beast..

Ever heard that????????

I'm asking you guys for your honest opinions about this question...

Do you think playing music for Inmates who have no other alternatives but to spend time in a jail for crimes their accused of... should their time be compensated with music????

How about while they are in lock down and it's right before lights out and good music is piped in..

What's your vote???

I am of the persuasion "What harm could it do"........

I say What Harm Could It Do! For the serious offenders pipe Celine Dion in 24/7! That'll reform them or make them beg for the chair. :grinthumb It may be better to play bad music so they don't feel comfy ever going back if they have a release date!

Sweden allows for a lot of personal freedom and recreation in their prisons, and they have one of the lowest repeat offender rates in the world, if not the lowest. I think it could be a decent start in prison reform.

I think it could make a difference. Too many people end up becoming more violent and antisocial when they go through the penal system. People that haven't committed violent crimes should be given more leeway. If you treat them like human beings instead of animals, teach them a trade or encourage their interests and talents, I think there would be more productive citizens and less repeat offenders being released back into society.

It all depends on who the band or artist is that is performing??.

If it was a band or artist that i didn't like and i was forced to sit through 120 minutes of trash then that would probably would wanna make me RIOT!!.:omg:

On the other hand if i was doing time in the state pen and THIN LIZZY was playing and of course there first number was - JAILBREAK that would be cool guy's really cool... :oyea:

Well doesn't anyone remember that scene from Shawshank with the opera? ;)

I say what harm could it do, but at the the same time think if you played something like that for the hardasses and O.G.'s then they'd throw a fit. :heheh:

Exactly Cosmic.. I like alot of the comments made about this subject.. I've never done any jail time but a stay overnight. But I would probably die off if I was incarcerated and not allowed to listen to music.. It calms me down for the most part.. I can drift off somewhere else in thought if I want to so I believe music has therapeutic values.
Our world revolves around music in many ways so a prison set on punishing a person in the harshest ways only says that your no longer considered human and treated like a animal..
Of course their are those who are plain sick and committed a violent crime and their punishment could vary.. But I wonder what effect it would have on them if they were allowed to learn to play a instrument or write music or something music related.
Hell even Charles Manson cut a album.. Never heard it but I could imagine the lyrics.. :peek
But I'll vote for what harm could it do.. :cheers2 Thanks for the reply's guys..
