Quite the opposite. When my brother and I, spinning the song as kids 6 and 10 years old, playing air guitar, drums and singing along, we would sing it that way. I found out the real lyrics later on.

It's well documented that the Beatles were first turned on to cannabis in 64 by none other than Mr. Dylan. He thought they were already smokers with the line in IWTHYH - "I get high". In reality, it was all booze and pills up until that point and John pointed out to Bob that the lyrics were indeed "I can't hide".***:
