Megaton ~ Megaton (1971)
Germany Hard Rock
Decca records

I feel like these bands from Germany would have been big if they were promoted by a USA or UK label. There isn’t much on the internet about the band or this album. A rare find!

Even Discogs doesn’t list all the band members except Les Humphries and Jimmy Bilsberry. Evidently Humphries went on to the Les Humphries Singers.

Megaton is an exciting find for me. The music has an eclectic mix of styles from psychedelic to blues to prog to African influence….but it is all heavy listening. Outstanding guitar riffs, good vocals, nice keyboards and lots of additional instruments like the bongos, sax & flute.

Wanna Be a Hero (killer guitar / flute solo)

Niagara (dig the Zeppelin influence ;))
