Cryptic Writings is an awesome album despite what many alienated fans say, it was teetering on commercialism but it had a fair amount of metal on it, I enjoyed that album a lot.

Sleepwalker I love it live. Chris Broderick shows how talented he is in this.

Hangar 18 brilliant live too. Broderick does Martys solos perfectly.

Trust is always a brilliant song live. I love that they keep it in their set.

Ok, I admit I'm being lazy but rather than go through 13 pages, etc. on Megadeth right now I just want to ask a quick question: I know that Megadeth is basically (considered by some) to be the Dave Mustaine band or project and is his baby but what is the guitar arrangement considered to be? - lead/rhythm, dual leads, a little of both depending on the song or something else? And what are some things to listen for?

Megadeth is up there as far as favorite bands of mine but I'm still rather casual as far as knowledge - that is still on my voluminous list of things to do!

Depends on the album. Rust in Peace for example him and Marty both did solos in separate sections of songs or even different songs.
More of the recent albums Chris Broderick did more solos and Mustaine was rhythm.

Thanks for that, Riff Raff. That's what I sort of figured knowing what I know so far. I've been getting a pretty good idea of Dave's guitar playing but haven't gotten far enough along to distinguish between or assess the various second guitar players that are and have been in the band.

Countdown was my first Megadeth! Guy I worked with about a dozen or so years ago loaned it to me when were were trading CD's back and forth to listen to and I really liked it. I recognized the familiar songs from the radio when it was first released and the rest of the album blew me away too. Then I went on to get my own copy and started buying up Megadeth CD's over the years. I think I actually "discovered" Megadeth before Metallica. I came into both bands late even though I was around at the time and am about the same age as most of those guys. Just somehow passed me by the first time lol. Megadeth has been kind of an off and on thing. Lately Megadeth is on again since I'm going to go see the band play next month so I'm going through listening to all the CD's :metal: :D

I might hunt down the not remastered edition of Rust in Peace and some of the other albums. Production is too clean when Dave did the remix and remaster. I think the drums could have stayed how they were. I like remastered but there is no doubting with Megadeth it was probably not necessary.
I think the bass needed the remaster, I like hearing it in the mix but the drums should have stayed like they were. A much rawer sound.
