You got me stumped EZ, don't worry I wouldn't go against your wishes and say your name here even if I could figure it out. I understand not wanting to be too public about things on an internet forum...but still, I can only think of a few English thrash bands ...

Sabbat ,Deathwish, Onslaught, Xyster, Hydra Vein, D.A.M., Acid Reign, Dearly Beheaded, Cerebral Fix, ...Thrash is kind of a rarity over there as far as I know ..
I give up. :heheh:

This is why I love Megadeth, Dave puts a lot of meaning to his songs especially for current events in the world.

Listened to about half of Thirteen last night, brilliant so far. Megadeth have aged brilliantly over the last few years since they reformed, the albums are all knockout. Same as Saxon.

I totally agree with this statement and would even take it a bit farther and say there are a handful of older Metal bands who have been putting out some of their best work in last 5 / 6 or so years. Some older bands have been doing it for even longer ( Motorhead etc. ) Who says that 50 year olds ( etc.) can't still rock \m/. I never stop listening to bands just because of age until they have proven to me that they have dried up musically. Even then I will give the next one a listen if it is a band that I have ever held in high regard.

I'm a big Motorhead fan, but I would have to politely disagree. Their albums after Inferno just seem to be Motorhead-by-numbers for me. I haven't even bothered with The World Is Yours, I've got Kiss of Death and Motorizer and they just sound the same to me. A couple of rock n roll songs in the style of Going To Brazil, one stupidly heavily song, a couple of powerful numbers. Job done.

But I would definitely agree with your point about age. Doesn't come into it for me. I thought the last Stones album A Bigger Bang was great :heheh:.

Back on topic though, I really hope Megadeth do a headline tour in the UK again, haven't had one since Feb 2008, and were completely missed out on the Endgame Tour. Have a word Dave!

Age does not determine the fire they have to make good music. Megadeth will keep being awesome if they have the desire to keep doing this stuff.

While I agree to some extent that Kiss of Death and Motorized are not two of Motorheads very best, though still solid efforts, The World Is Yours is a stone KILLER! And personally I would say that The Stones have been dried up prunes since they put out the disco laden Black and Blue album ( aside from a song or two here and there).

But back to Megadeth, their last three have been great, highly inspired THRASH METAL albums the way it is meant to be played and I salute Dave for it. :grinthumb
Some of the other stuff just before that, while I still like them to various degrees ( other then Risk ), are not as vital but no one ( or very few ) can put out nothing BUT top notch material. Especially with as long a career as Megadeth ( and Motorhead ) have had. :cheers2

In fact, the World Needs a Hero has some great tracks on it too, so I take back my bit about post reunion!

I think it says a lot about Dave that apart from Thirteen, the ones we're talking about have been without Ellefson, and the other guys in the band, as talented as they are, are just side men session players. It's all Dave, and he's single handedly written these albums and blown us away.
