I agree with everyone . Early U2 were good....Unforgetable fire,Joshua tree period they were great and after the Achtung baby album were extremely average .
I voted I like them, have loads of their albums..but never seen them "live"

Wasn't sure exactly how to vote, so I went with "Like Them", since I don't have blind faith to all their stuff. Not good is not good and the majority of the 90's stuff was "not good" to me.

Now "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" and "No Line on the Horizon" to me were both great and helps me forget the 90's stuff.

Somewhere between love them and like them.
Was a huge fan of U2 from when I first saw them in nov 81. My girlfriends brother made us go and I had never heard a single song. They opened with Gloria and was floored. Seen them ever tour since. Love their live shows especially in the early days. I've seen them over 20 times.

More a fan of the boy- achtung era, however all their albums have at least a few good songs.

Early albums, up to Joshua Tree, were excellent. After that Bono became to self-important to be relevant any longer. I no longer listen to them so I voted neutral

A lot of 80s fans here it seems. C'mon people, give 1991's Achtung Baby and 1997's Pop a chance. They're two of their most exciting and different sounding albums out of their entire discography!

I have a lot of respect for U2 but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them. I think they have a very cool and extremely unique sound, but it's not very much up my alley. I could definitely see myself being a bigger fan if they were a little less mellow, or a little more atmospheric, or a little more Earthy (but not all those things at once!). As they are, they just don't happen to hit my soft spot.

i luvvv achtung baby... then joshua tree... then war, my top three, with the unforgettable fire and how to dismantle (you heard me) close behind. most of my other choices are pickin and choosin tracks here or there. (for example, i adore the song 'stay' offa zooropa, but i could manage not much more than a meh for the rest of that album.)

i would call achtung baby and joshua tree outright masterpieces.

i think they're a polarizing band, probably becuz of some combination of (a) a very distinct sound that tends to win you or lose you; and (b) bono and his yap.

at their best? not only incredible music but inspired, poetic lyrics. achtung, coming when it did, as it did, ditching the successful formula, so to speak, and going for broke in breaking new ground... just phenomenal. and in my opinion, it all worked. i still spin that album regularly.

Breaking new ground for them = Playing the same crap music as all the other crap bands were playing.
