Nobody judges on people's music tastes here, so no need to worry about that. We all like what we like, that's what makes everyone so diverse.

Amen to this. Never met a better group of music fans and as a Gen Y'r I've been posting on boards since I was 11 or 12...

No worries about your "street cred" Jen, we all have a wide variety of artists we like, and that is a good thing.

Last week in fact I picked up a Cyndi Lauper album, and I have two of Olivia Newton John's old ones as well as some ABBA.

And if it picks you up makes you happy then that's a good thing, me Katy just doesn't do it for me, neither did Britney, Christine, Madge or Gaga. But that doesn't mean they don't have some ability and they each deserve a thread of their own, I just won't write any of them, so it's good to see you stepping up.

Sooty wrote a thread for her a long time ago,,,and I still haven't posted in it...I did tell him in his profile he wrote a good thread though...

No I just don't like her Jen, not on any level. Christine I would have dinner with in a heartbeat...maybe Katy too, but that has nothing to do with musical appreciation...

I don't mind her music at all and like I said before it's quite catchy and fun, the type of thing I need to listen to when I'm not in the best of spirits which has been a lot lately. And I hope I'm not losing any credibility as a rock fan by posting a thread like this and the country one, but I like a little of everything in my musical diet and Katy is alright with me.

Your cred it still very much intact, Jen. After all I'm the person who posted the Tiny Tim thread (which for the record has my favorite OP that I've ever written here) and I listen to him whenever I need cheering up. He's like my Katy Perry only he's less pretty....on the outside anyway.

Very good! I've never really listened to Tiny Tim before to be honest. Remember Timmy T though?



And after I listen to pop like Katy or hip hop or something else corny I always feel I have to fill some rock quota. After this it'll probably be months before you see me mention her again because I'll be too busy making up for lost time and embarrassment with my rock stuff.

No love for Madge from me, or for Christina. Or Beyonce for that matter, although I DO like Destiny's Child (they might have been better with a different lead singer though). I tend to like singers who aren't all about the "woooah woooah woooah!" Who are you trying to impress? If I want technically apt singers I'll listen to opera, TYVM. Gimme someone who just gets on a mic and croaks, like Dylan or Ke$ha. Clearly I'm not as diverse as I could be, though, as I could stand to have some technical singers in my cache!

I thought Beyonce's best work was in her Austin Powers movie role...

If you are talkin' about "warbling" AAG, then I agree 100%, and Mariah Carey is the worst of them all for that.
