started off with Miles Davis' Bitches Brew (which is absolutely amazing) and the genre took off to do some great stuff in the 70's. what does everyone here think of Fusion and who are some of your favorite artists?

I am not a fan personally of jazz, but I do like some jazz fusion that is found in progressive rock. Mahavishnu Orchestra is a good example. Jeff Beck is another one who has some awesome jazz fusion.

this is an awesome song off the "Wired" album

i agree. Jeff Beck did some outstanding fusion work during the 70's. same with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the intensity they brought to their music is still pretty amazing :grinthumb

I agree Bitches Brew is amazing. You might want to check out In A Silent Way, which came the year before Bitches Brew. To me, that's really where Davis stuck his big toe into fusion...

I like jazz rock fusion more than pure jazz myself.

Jean Luc Ponty

Al Di Meola

Stanley Clarke

Those are three of the artists I enjoy.

yeah i love In a Silent Way as well, and while it does have quite a bit of fusion elements in it, i think Bitches Brew is the album that changed everything

Another fantastic jazz fusion artist would be Herbie Hancock. But you also have to enjoy funk music as well, because he incorporates that into the fusion
