We've all heard songs that each of us consider to be "all right" or even "pretty good" but not "great" and not "perfect." This thread is to let you change all of that, or at least have a little fun trying.

What I'm looking for in the replies is to have everybody responding name various songs from your favorite artists that you like a little or reasonably well but that you think could be improved.

Then tell us exactly how you would do it, in detail. Longer intro? Shorter outro? An addition verse? Different guitar solo? "Better" lyrics? Fewer background vocals? A minute more of running time? A minute less? Better production? More cowbell? Different riff?

No limit on genres or the types of things you'd change in the songs you pick, even if those things are minute and trivial.

Gonna save my replies for when the thread needs a bump, as a fail safe just in case the topic sinks like a stone! :)

Interesting idea for a thread!

I'll take a shot at Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused

a) first (and foremost) get rid of the two minute moaning section between the chorus and the guitar solo. It's not necessary and just about kills the song.
b) Wish there was more after the solo, there's some more verses, but it kind of ends fairly quickly.

Thats about it, good song.

Gonna get some flak for this one...but "Hey Jude" is way too repetitive for my liking. Growing up it used to vie with Zep's Stairway to Heaven almost every year for best song ever contests hosted by the big stations in Vancouver.

I would like Paul and John to allow George and Ringo to add a couple of verses to the song and then repeat the refrain twice at the end of the song.

I like the melody, the first part is good but then it just goes on and on and on....you get the picture.

Yeah I would cut about 3-4 minutes out of that song myself

Rolling Stones - Can't You Hear Me Knocking

One of the best songs in their catalog, yet also draws out WAY WAY WAY too long. The sax and guitar work in the last 4 minutes of the song is beyond redundant. It turns into a long, boring Santana-esque guitar thing. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, but it really drives me nuts in the repetitiveness of the whole ending. The song is 7+ minutes long and could very easily end at the 4:30 mark and still be one hell of a good tune, without losing anything. Hell, you could easily drop it off at the 3:30 to 4:00 mark and still be a great tune.
