Aww man...I can't even begin to say how many hours I spent sifting through the records at various stores. I would say in my college years, I actually spent more time in the records stores than in class. I still have about 70 percent of them too...lol.

I miss music stores in general! Here all we have left is WalMart and their selection is pretty hurting!! Still haven't got that Stones "Live In Texas" DVD cos their music DVD selection is pretty bad.Might have to sign up with amazon.

Oh how I miss those Saturday afternoons hanging out at CDPlus,we also had a used record/used CD rock stuff store called "Blizzard Fish" run by an old hippie, that was a great place!!

I live in a University town and we have a couple old collectors who sell vinyl. The owner is always full of stories about musicians they have met. This guy told me all about Jaco Pastorious and his odd behaviors around the town I live.. But other than that..
I have to drive 150 miles to Jacksonville to shop at this one store that a guy has nothing but vinyl. Rooms and rooms of vinyl all over the place. He's a bit of a dick and prices can range from a couple of bucks to well up there.
He knows his labels so depending on what record company label is on the album depends on the price..
But like all here.. I miss the stores like Rasberry records.. Tower.. Kmart selections. it seems all the dept stores sold 45's and Lp's..Now it's just individual record dealers still buying and selling vinyl..

I was NEVER a fan of the big chain record stores (Sam Goody, Sound of Music, Musicland, etc) but rather I would spend my time and money at a couple of locally owned stores. The atmosphere was far cooler in it's time and it was easier to talk to the employees, as opposed to those geeks that worked at the record stores in the malls who didn't know squat about anything. "Hey man, I just work here".

We had an FYE and a Sam Goody's back in T-town. The selection was okay but they usually jacked up their prices pretty good. You can get the same thing on Amazon for cheap. Both of them eventually went out of business.

I have no idea what a mall record store has in it anymore. Last time I was in one at the Mall of America, it had more video games than music. My comments were more about what record stores were in back in the 80's and 90's in malls. Huge? sure. Wide variety? yeah. Stupid staff? Most definitely.
