The song count of itunes stands at 19,459 songs but that is not all the music I've got. lots of bootlegs not loaded on the computer and about 1/4 of my lps are not converted.

I have quite a few legit CDs but I usually burn music now. The only albums I buy now are ones that I really want by artists I want to support. If I like one song by an artist, I'm not going to waste money on an entire CD, especially if it's someone like Beyonce.

It depends when you get into the artist! If you are young they may have 20+ albums in their catalog. That's a lot of catching up to do and while your spending all that money catching up you also have new albums from new artist to keep up with. I've always bought the new artist I get intos album and buy the rest in Greatest Hits unless I really, really like the older artist.

I hear ya, I just find it easier to get the Greatest Hits albums a lot. Unless there are albums that I just have to get, like those Zeppelin ones for example
