Singles: A-Z by artist and order of release, per year, with plastic dividers
Digital files: Alphabetical by artist.
I know an incredible number of collectors who couldn't begin to tell you how to find anything in their collection, or even know what they have or don't have. For them, when they have thousands of records, starting to organize them from the beginning is like climbing Mount Everest. It's too daunting, and they never get around to it.
Every family has a list-maker. In mine, that was me.
