ok to be honest im just beginning to listen to rock music... i was born a hip-hop head and that is all i listened to my whole... but recently i saw THE WALL... and wtf i was mind blown... imgaine hearing that great music at the age of 23 where you can comprehend, but actually hearing it for the first time... im 25 now but i still feel like a baby and don't know much about rock... so with that said FLOOD ME WITH SHIT TO LISTEN TO PLEASE!... i really like 60's,70's, and 80's type rock... but im so lost people... i need all your opinions... to give you an idea of what i like: PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, BOSTON, BLUE OYSTER CULT, QUEEN, JIMI HENDRIX, IRON MAIDEN, ERIC CLAPTON, RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS, METALLICA, NIRVANA, SOME KISS... im mostly into progressive concept type music, like pink floyd... blues'ish rock... but i litterally listen to anything... as long if it's good umm so yeah im like a baby to rock so anything you believe is great throw at me... because there's a good chance (unless it's insanely popular) i havent heard it... and it will probably blow my mind.

p.s. i like song with riffs like the one in layla-derek n dominoes, all along the watch tower-jimi, more than a feeling-boston (especially the bridge part), most iron maiden songs... you know the type of riffs... and also give me any suggestions shit i listen to anything... except for that really dark develish music... i just can't get into it lol... to each his own... but either way if you think i'll like then just give a suggestion who knows... remmeber im brand ****ing new to this so ANYTHING would be new to me basically

rock and roll forever!!

P.S.S. lol... yea if you could try to give me songs rather than band names... i mean i can look up rock bands online but if i dont hear a great song within 2 or 3 tries i would most likely give up... so yea... just great music... flood me

and on a side not... whats your favorite album of all time??... any genre

How about this man! I'll give you threads! That way you're not overwhelmed by an album and you can pick and choose from a handful of suggested tracks in the thread. To be honest my niche is the new music guy so I'll give you a new band that does progressive music infused with some folk, blues, etc. They are called "The Decemberist"!! Here's the link:

The Decemberists

Honestly the go to guy for blues and progressive for me has been Joe so I'll give him the privilege of setting you up there as I've discovered about a dozen of these type of bands from here recently!

Oh, and don't be ashamed of the Hip-Hop part! Yeah a lot of rock fans especially of a certain age think it's the devil but I'm proof that one can enjoy and have room for both. It's awesome you're adding to your musical repertoire but remember to be true to what you like! Peace! :grinthumb

hey great suggestions soot... i've only listened to the first 3 videos but im loving it so far... especially island and landlords daughter... thats my type of music there... and yea the whole devil thing wasnt towards rock istelf... i just know there's certain "satanic" metal music thats just too HARD for me... i like to hear words... i can stand a scream and growl here and there but not on the whole track and as for rap... i will always love it... but i just dont hear good rap anymore... and i can't vibe with this whole "clubbin" mainstream stuff... but yea... any more bands like this dude whether new or old or any genre... i dont care... i love good music... but yea... landlords daughter!!!

For blues-rock, there's a wave of artists from the late 80's that are really quite good. Popular as well, I may add. You've probably heard them, but you didn't list them so I'll throw them out there anyway:

This one is a slower one, bit of jazz thrown in:

John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers have some great blues riffs, too. This one features Eric Clapton (Derek and the Dominos, Cream) on guitar.

As Sooty said, Joe appears to be quite the guru on blues-rock, so I'm sure he'll have a bazillion bands to share :grinthumb

These are just some mainstream ones you may or may not have heard.

Alright man, I'm obsessed with The Smashing Pumpkins to a fault :heheh: but they are a 90's band that are still making music that are still around today! Here's a variety of their stuff!

First a beat driven song:

Eye

A well loved universal standard of theirs:

Disarm

A heavier song:

Bodies

A psychedelic one:

Rhinocerous

My three personal favorites:

Mayonaise (favorite song ever),For Martha, Galapagos

Understand this may be a lot but this is actually me holding back! :lmao:

Oh that's cool man! The beautiful thing about the band is they have something for everyone! For Martha is a great pick! It's got a brilliant song that builds throughout the song and gives a great payoff with the guitar solo! Enjoy exploring them more if you feel up to it! :grinthumb
